The Benbrook High School Boys Basketball season has tipped off with a schedule that had the Bobcats at home for their first two games!

The Bobcats lost the home opener to Cleburne High School and then took on Corsicana last night on a Military Appreciation Night that featured the Benbrook High School JROTC and Choir during a pre-game ceremony honoring all those that serve and have served in our Military.

Benbrook got off to a slow start trailing most of the first half but was able to cut the deficit to 1 point by halftime. The Bobcats took an early lead in the 2nd half but the Corsican Tigers were able to chip away at it taking an eventual 5 point lead going into the final two minutes. Despite an intense last minute push the Bobcats fell short losing 39-44.

After an 0-2 start, the Bobcats go into the Lake Worth Tournament with focus on improvement but with high expectations. After last night's game RallyCats caught up with Head Coach Blake Mendez, "We are only returning one varsity player, so the boys are still getting use to the speed and physicality of the game and the season is going to be what they make of it. Luckily, we have a lot of basketball still to play this week. We got into the Lake Worth Tournament and have some games that we can win, and we expect to bring back some hardware from that tournament."

The Bobcats will head into the Lake Worth Tournament scheduled to play Northside (Thur/430pm), Diamond Hill (Thur/730pm), Lake Worth (Fri/130pm) followed by bracket play on Saturday.
